Before you start

Will my phone start ringing with funders?

No. We never sell your information or send it out to a list. Ryan works with the funders himself: he shares your file only with the few that fit your business, gathers their offers and walks you through them. Once you pick one, that funder works with you directly to finish the paperwork.

Why not go straight to a factoring company?

You can. But each company shows you one offer: its own. We put several side by side in the same dollars, read the fine print with you, and you pay the same price as going straight to the funder. One file, several offers, and someone on your side of the table.

Do I pay Fairgate anything?

No. No application fee, no upfront fee, no success fee. You also pay the same price as going straight to the funder, so working with us never costs you more.

Do you favor certain funders?

No. You see every option that fits, side by side, in plain dollars, and you pick. If none of them are good for you, we'll tell you, even if that means you walk away.

Is factoring a sign my business is struggling?

No. It's common in industries where customers pay slowly by design: staffing, trucking, home care, construction and government work. Growing businesses often use it because the bigger the contracts, the longer the wait for payment. It's a way to stop waiting on money you've already earned.

Will my customers know, and will it hurt the relationship?

Usually your customers get new payment instructions so payments go to the funder. In many industries that's routine, and established funders handle it professionally. If it matters to you, tell us. Some funders offer options with less customer contact, and we'll include them when they fit.

Will I get stuck in a long contract?

Not without knowing it. Many factoring agreements run 6 to 12 months and renew on their own unless you cancel in time, and some charge to leave early. Before you sign, we show you the term, the renewal window and any exit fee in plain words, and we include no-contract options when they fit.

I've been hit with hidden fees before. How do I know what I'll really pay?

That's the problem we built Fairgate to fix. Most factoring fees run about 1% to 5% for each 30 days an invoice is open, but the rate isn't the bill: how the days are counted, what the fee is charged on, and the extra fees decide what you pay. We show every offer as an all-in dollar amount before you sign. See how fees work, or check an offer you already have.

About factoring

What is invoice factoring?

You sell unpaid invoices to a funder. The funder pays you most of the invoice now, usually 80–95%, then collects from your customer and sends you the rest, minus its fee.

Is factoring a loan?

No. You're selling an asset (your invoices), not borrowing. Approval depends mostly on your customers' credit, not yours.

Do I need good credit?

Not always. Funders care most about whether your customers pay. Your own credit can matter less than things like tax liens, existing loans that claim your receivables, or a merchant cash advance. Tell us about those up front and we'll find funders that can work with them.

Can a new business qualify?

Often, yes. Funders look mainly at your customers' ability to pay, and some funders specialize in newer businesses.

What's the difference between recourse and non-recourse?

With recourse, you're responsible if a customer never pays. With non-recourse, the funder absorbs that loss in certain cases, usually a customer going out of business. Non-recourse typically costs more, so it's worth knowing exactly what it covers.

Can I factor only some invoices?

Many funders let you choose. Some require all invoices from a given customer. This is one of the terms we compare for you.

I have a merchant cash advance. Can I still factor?

Sometimes. The cash advance company usually has a claim on your receivables, so it has to be paid off or agree to step back. We can walk through your options.

I already factor. Can you help?

Yes. Send us your agreement and we'll review it for free: what you really pay, and what's in the fine print. If a better deal is out there, we'll show you, including what it takes to switch, like the payoff and notice period, so the timing works for you.

Can Medicare and Medicaid claims be factored?

Yes, with funders set up for them. Medicare and Medicaid can't pay a funder directly, so those funders set up a bank account in your name that passes payments through to them. Only some funders handle this, and we know which ones. See our home care guide.

Working with Fairgate

What happens after I submit?

You see estimated options right away. Within one business day Ryan emails you with what he needs to get real offers (usually a list of unpaid invoices, a few recent invoices and your customer contacts). Send them however is easiest: upload on the site, email, or text. Before anything goes to a funder, you get one email asking your OK. Then Ryan brings you written offers from the funders that fit, side by side. You choose one, or walk away.

Do I have to get on a call?

No. The whole thing works by email, or by text if you opt in. A call is there if you want one: book 15 minutes or call (727) 353-2577.

How long does it take to get funded?

Faster than most people expect. A funder can usually send a term sheet in about a day, first funding typically takes about 3–5 business days after you sign, and then usually 1–2 business days per invoice. The first one takes longest because the funder sets up your account and verifies your invoices; having your paperwork ready is what makes it fast. Need it sooner? Tell us your deadline →

How accurate is the online estimate?

It uses typical market pricing for businesses like yours: your industry, volume and how fast your customers pay. Real offers depend on each funder's review, so they can come in higher or lower. We'll explain any difference.

Does the estimate affect my credit?

No. We don't run a credit check for the estimate. Funders may check credit later, with your permission, when they review your file.

Which funders do you work with?

Several established factoring companies that cover every industry on this site, from funders that specialize in small and newer businesses to funders that handle multi-million-dollar lines. We'll name the ones that fit you when we send your offers.

What if I'm declined, or nothing fits?

We'll tell you why, plainly, and what would change the answer. If factoring isn't the right tool for you right now, we'll say so.

Is my information safe?

We collect only what your request needs, use encrypted connections and reputable providers, never sell your information, and share your file only with funders that fit, with your OK. You can black out account numbers before you send documents. Read our privacy policy.
